Desk and project allocation system for an enterprise

In large organisations, the question "who sits where, and which project are they on?" is surprisingly hard to answer. Divisions grow and shrink, projects start and end, and floor space is expensive. The client managed workstation allocation in spreadsheets maintained by different people, which meant double bookings, empty desks that looked occupied and no reliable overview for facility planning.

We built a web application that models the organisation as it is: divisions, projects, employees and workstations. Managers allocate people to projects and desks, see free capacity per floor and division, and export reports for facility planning. Role-based access ensures each division manages only its own space.

• Application: Laravel (PHP) with Blade templates and Laravel Mix for assets.
• Data: MySQL with a relational model for divisions, projects, employees and workstations.
• Access: role-based permissions per division.
• Hosting: standard LAMP-compatible hosting inside the client's infrastructure.

Its domain model later informed the Workspace module of Smart DigiBuild.
