Hockenheim Cricket Club: a bilingual club website editors love

Hockenheim Cricket Club, the cricket department of HSV Hockenheim 1886 e.V., is a growing club with members from many countries. It needed a website that looks as ambitious as the club, works in German and English, and can be updated by volunteers on a Sunday evening in minutes. As a German association, it also had to meet the Impressum and GDPR requirements without annoying visitors with cookie walls.

We built an animated, bilingual website with everything a club needs: news with match reports and RSS, fixtures and results with calendar downloads, teams and squads, an academy with timetable and personal coaching requests, membership and sponsorship pages, a photo gallery with lightbox, and contact forms.

Every text, image and page header is editable in Sanity Studio, which runs at /studio on the same domain. The site falls back to placeholder content per section, so it never looks empty while editors fill it in. A seed script copies all starter content into the CMS.

• Framework: Next.js 16 App Router with React 19 and TypeScript, Tailwind CSS v4 design tokens.
• i18n: next-intl with German and English, hreflang alternates and localised metadata.
• CMS: Sanity with field-level translations, webhook-based revalidation within seconds of publishing.
• Motion: Motion and Lenis, respecting reduced-motion preferences.
• Forms: React Hook Form and Zod with server actions, Resend emails, honeypot, rate limit and Turnstile.
• GDPR: self-hosted fonts, two-click embeds for maps and video, a consent dialog with equal-weight buttons, Impressum and privacy templates.
• SEO: sitemap, robots, JSON-LD and dynamic Open Graph images.

The site scores 100 for accessibility, best practices and SEO in Lighthouse mobile on every page, with performance between 87 and 94. Committee members publish news and fixtures themselves.
